The World DMC Finals for 2017 is upon us!  The DMC is longest reigning DJ competition with the most prestigeous name in all the Battle land.  The DMC has created legends in the game and is still the most sought after prize in the battle DJ realm.  The 2017 DMC World finals will be held in KOKO, London on October 1st.  Check out the full press release and head on over to the DMC Website for lots more info.

The DMC World DJ Finals to be held on Sunday the 1st of October.
The prestigious event will take place in London at Koko, Camden.
The greatest DJs from all over the world will battle for supremacy.
The event is sponsored by audio equipment manufacturer Rane.
Tickets cost £15 through the DMC website, Ticketmaster and Ticketweb.

Turntablists, selectors and beat junkies of the world unite; the world’s most prestigious, longest running and number one leading DJ authority DMC brings the final chapter of 2017’s annual worldwide competitions to a triumphant new London venue.

Proud, longtime partners, Rane present The 2017 DMC World DJ Championship Finals on Sunday 1st October at KOKO, in Camden.

The DMC World Finals will see the best DJs from all over the world gather in London to compete for what are, in DJing terms, the ultimate accolades and grand titles. A cut above their fellow national adversaries, the stage is all that remains to be conquered. Having survived elimination, the true test of ability comes to the international table, where the flavours of the world are pit against one another in a showcase of the most formidable DJ talent. The 2017 competition sees 3 titles up for grabs; DMC World Eliminations, DMC World Champion and the DMC Battle Champion.

Formidable competitors – as yet to be announced – will attempt to steal the crown from the current world champion, DJ Yuto of Japan, whilst Brazil’s Erick Jay will also grace KOKO’s iconic stage to uphold his title as the DJ Battle for Supremacy Champion. In arguably DMC’s most competitive year to date, 2016 saw Erick Jay triumph over fan favourite, Japan’s DJ Fummy and witnessed a mind-blowing and energetic DJ Yuto dismiss the UK’s rising star Ritchie Ruftone, New Zealand’s DJ Spell and France’s DJ Skillz. Memorable guest performances came from DJ Woody, Killa Kella & The Spitkingdom Soundsystem, Invisibl Skratch Piklz (Q-Bert, Shortkut and D-Styles) with their first UK show in two decades and witnessed online team champions DJ Netik and DJ Fly tear apart the venue.

Last year’s event saw interactive all-day workshops focused on hip-hop culture run by some professionals with heavyweight credentials. The DJ Workshop was hosted by none other than the masterful DJ Woody, Popping and Locking with New York’s legendary Pop Master Fabel of The Rock Steady Crew, Lyricism with Chester P and Farma G and beatboxing with 2015 world champions The Beatbox Collective.

Celebrating 33 years, DMC has come a long way since 1985 and has cemented its place at the heart of DJ culture. First won by young Londoner Roger Johnson, winners have included some of the most powerful entities that have stood behind the 1s+2s, legends such as a then 15 year old A-Track, Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, DJ Kraze, Cutmaster Swift, Roc Raida and DJ Noize. Over the years the event has played host to a number of significant attendees, from Run DMC and Janet Jackson to James Brown and Public Enemy.

Having previously filled the likes of Wembley Arena, Brixton Academy, the Royal Albert hall and the Millennium Dome, the prestigious venue soaked in history, KOKO Camden has been awarded the privilege. KOKO has played host to some of the most legendary of gigs in memory, from The Rolling Stones and Prince to Amy Winehouse and Kanye West.

A higher standard of the art form will be found under no other roof. A continuous and pioneering effort to make DMC the frontier of turntablism once again makes no compromises. Further details with special guests and announcements are to be made over the coming weeks. It will be the most important event this October so be sure to keep your ears and eyes peeled for more information.
